Lapis Lazuli is a dark blue stone commonly mistaken for Sodalite. The easiest way to tell it apart from Sodalite is the Pyrite inclusions that are commonly found running through it. It is sourced from many mines around the world but the majority of it comes out of the Middle East and Russia. Although it is very abundant it does not usually come cheap. Lapis is very popular for stone carvings. Be careful to watch out for dyed or enhanced versions of this stone.
Metaphysical properties: Lapis Lazuli is the go to stone for opening the Third Eye chakra and is also a popular choice for work with the Throat chakra. Anyone looking to do dreamwork should have a piece of this in their tool box. It is a good stone for people looking to release stress and bring serenity.
Secondary birthstone: September
