This "Sea Monster" co existed with the dinosaurs. This tooth is from an extinct Marine Lizard. It was a dominant marine predator during the Cretaceous Period 65 to 144 million years ago. They are considered to be the closest relatives of snakes. Mosasaurs ranged in size up to 55 feet long.Their fossil bones have been found with shark teeth embedded in them. What a battle that must have been. Fossilized Mosasaur bones and teeth have been discovered in states covered by the Cretaceous Seaway: Texas, Arkansas, New Mexico, Kansas, Colorado, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota and Montana. The huge inland Cretaceous Seaway split the North America continent into two halves 100 million years ago.
