Selenite is a very soft stone that comes in a semi translucent white color.  It can dissolve if left in liquid over short periods of time.  It is smooth and has a flakey quality to it that sometimes leaves behind a dust.  It is often carved into shapes so it can be set on top of light boxes to show off it’s reflective quality.  Selenite is very abundant and is widely sourced from all around the world.

Metaphysical properties: Selenite is an excellent stone for cleansing energy from other crystals and objects.  Because of this, it does not have to be charged or cleared like other crystals and gemstones.  It brings about a very calming, peaceful energy and many people use it for meditation work.  It brings about clarity and helps those looking to expand their own self awareness.

Tourmaline comes in many different colors.  Most commonly it is found in black but is also available in green, pink, blue, yellow and many more. In fact the word Tourmaline, in Sri Lanka, means the stone of many colors.  Black tourmaline is readily available in many forms and is found all over the world.  This stone is used as the gift for people celebrating their 8th wedding anniversary.  Even though this stone has a hardness of 7 or higher, in it’s rough form it can cleave easily.

Metaphysical properties: Used by many for its ability to help block Electromagnetic frequencies.  Tourmaline is a highly protective stone that helps dispel negativity and ground the user.  People looking to do any work with the root chakra would benefit from meditating with this stone.  Each color has additional properties and should be researched in order to find which one is best.

Birthstone: October (Pink variation)
